Planet Jump Rope
Planet Jump Rope is a young and dynamic organisation that promotes jump rope in an attractive way to a broad audience through demonstrations, workshops, purchase of rope skipping material, competitions,...
By uniting the best Belgian jump ropers, the Planet Jump Rope demonstration teams can guarantee a perfectly choreographed show of great quality! Besides jump rope performances we organize jump rope events with a special creative touch and a specific image, unique in Belgium, Europe and the whole world.
Planet Jump Rope is the official sponsor of the Belgian Rope Skipping Federation. (BRSF)
Although “DDF” is a product of Planet Jump Rope, this double dutch demonstration team was the base of the foundation of Planet Jump Rope.
Touring through Japan in August 2003, the brothers Simon and Benjamin Mahy discovered the spectacular “Fusion”-style in double dutch, and together with Christophe Van De Weygert the idea to bring this style to Europe was born. Soon, “ Double-D-Force ” was born... with growing succes
Because of the renewing contribution, the demand for the DDF-demo grew very fast. Therefore, in the beginning of 2004, we decided to present ourselves as an organisation: Planet Jump Rope vzw!
We also started the purchase of ropes and other jump rope materials (DVDs, speedcounters, foam grips,...) under the name “Ropemania”.
Later, we decided to increase the supply of "recreative" competitions for beginners. In the meanwhile, the famous "Supercup" knock-out competition of PJR is very popular among young and old!
From that moment on, things escalated a little... and the result was lots of new events organised or supported by PJR as a world record attempt in double dutch speed and the very first Double Dutch Contest in Belgium.
In 2008 we started with 2 new showteams: No Gravity and a youth team JunJun. We also organized with a big succes the DDCB vol.2 in the Stadschouwburg of Kortrijk.
The highlights for PJR in 2009: the huge success of the famous DDCB vol.3 in the Arenbergschouwburg from Antwerp, 3 brilliant supercups and the team DDF that went to a couple of new countries to perform. For DDF, 2009 was a good year, they won the double dutch contest in Japan and Belgium!
In 2010 the DDCB vol.4 was again a huge success. We also organized a world record of 24 hours double dutch speed simultaneous in 8 countries. Everything was broadcasted online and 26 international DJ's with toppers as Dysfunkshunal and Grazzhoppa, supported the jumpers with music. In Russia DDF received the award of Best Artists in the Russian State Circus.
